Fall Pillow Cover

I am slowly {but surely} getting into the Fall spirit!  I’m getting there, people!  It’s just so hard to fully commit when it’s still 90+ degrees outside {for some reason, I just started singing 98 Degrees songs.  Inappropriate at my age}.

But I’m getting there!

I was up pretty late last night working on various crafts and Etsy orders.

One of the things I worked on were some Fall pillow covers for my couch!

I loved my pillows before.  I had 2 blue pillows that I LOVE!  I found them at TJ Maxx for $20 {for the pair}!  I also made some yellow ones to go with the blue out of Target napkins!

{Sorry for the bad picture.  I’m an impatient blogger who couldn’t wait and took her pictures at night!}

IMG_6285

I just loved the blue & yellow together for the Spring & Summer!

But it was time to move on.  I needed some orange or red to really bring that Fall vibe into our home!

I found some pretty fabric at JoAnn’s that was perfect!  But I didn’t want to get rid of my blue pillows.  I wanted to save them for next Spring and Summer as well.  So I did a search for an easy envelope pillow cover tutorial and found the perfect one!

I used this tutorial found over at Texas Cottage.  Man, what a GREAT, easy to understand tutorial!!  I am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing blogging community where everyone shares their skills & talents!

I am definitely still a novice sewer.  But, my envelope pillow cover turned out FAB and I LOVE IT!  I didn’t have quite enough fabric for the 2nd cover so I have to go back to JoAnn’s today to get more.

But I just couldn’t wait to show you my one lonely little cover!!

IMG_6286IMG_6287IMG_6288

I am obviously not going to give a tutorial because the one at Texas Cottage is just so darn good, there’s no need to repeat!

And the yellow pillows I made still work!  Yesssss!

Again….this is my kinda project!!  Easy, not permanent, and pretty quick too!  I know I’ll be quicker at the 2nd one now that I know what I’m doing!

So…what do you think?  How are you getting your home ready for Fall and/or Halloween!?

Have a great Friday!!!

The Wonderful World of Pinterest {and a little catching up…}

Hey guys!

I miss you!!  I have been MIA for the past week or so and I am so sorry!

I tell ya, starting an Etsy shop isn’t as easy as I thought it would be!  Whew!  I’ve been busy creating my business cards, thank you notes, and stickers for my packages!  I’ve also been busy buying up my supplies and already FILLING ORDERS

I can’t believe it!  My babysitter literally just showed up so I can work on some orders today!  I love it!

I also am setting up a “booth” at our neighborhood’s Harvest Gathering.  My neighborhood is super family oriented and we have a huge community center with a giant pool and courtyard and playground area.  We have several events throughout the year for families to enjoy.  The Harvest Gathering is just a time for everyone in the neighborhood to get together and enjoy the cool weather and some local vendors together.  I am going to be one of those vendors!!  Eeep! I am so nervous!!  So I am also trying to get some different crafts done for that as well!

I would love for you guys to share any creative ideas you may have for me as far as setting up my table and displaying things goes!

I’ve never done anything like this so I’m pretty nervous.  Excited, but nervous!  I need all the tips & tricks I can get!

Ok….so on to my favorite Pinterest finds lately {and man….are these some good ones}!!!

First off….have you seen these printable tags?  So cute and they would add the perfect touch to your gifts!

Um…..is this not the cutest thing ever for your laundry room!?!  I think I might make a few of these for my booth at the Harvest Gathering!

I love everything about these glitter cake pops.  I think I kinda need these for Emily’s first birthday party!!

Hello gorgeous chevron rug from Urban Outfitters!

I am in love with everything about this burger bar!  I’m thinking something like this would be so fun for the Super Bowl party this year!

I’m sure this is nothing new, but I just LOVE these baskets!!  I have one basket on my stairs for everything, but I love the individualized baskets!  Everyone is responsible for their own!  Love it!

I love this master bedroom!  The bedding, the sunburst mirror, the headboard, the chandelier….oh my!  I also love it because we have an odd placed window in our master just like this one!  It’s always been a pain in my butt, but now I have some inspiration!

Hahahaha.  These just crack me up!!!

That’s it, folks!  That’s all I’ve got for ya this week!

Stay tuned!  I am going to be featuring my favorite Fall/Halloween Pinterest finds later this week!

Ask And You Shall Receive

I had such a great response on the sleeping baby sign that I made!  I had NO idea it would be so popular!!

IMG_6142

In addition to all the wonderful comments, I had a lot of people email me asking me if I had these available for sale in an Etsy shop or anything like that.

I created an Etsy shop last year sometime and then got pregnant, had a baby, and never really followed through with it.  I honestly forgot I even had it!

Well, it has been resurrected!!  Emmy Lane Boutique has come back from the dead!

I have included a couple of the ‘Do Not Knock’ signs in the shop.  If there is a color you would like other than the ones listed, please let me know and I will be glad to make one with your color of choice.

I also have several wreaths on there that I have been making for fun (which can also be customized with the colors of your choice).

Check it out, tell your friends, and be sure to check the shop often as I am going to be adding some more Halloween and even Christmas stuff soon {I can’t believe I just said Christmas stuff. Yikes!}!

Thank you all for being so supportive.  Your comments and kind words are what keep me going.  I love my little blog family!

Have a great day!

More Football Crafts {I told you I love football season}!

Betsy, a good girlfriend of mine from high school lives just a few houses down from me.  You may remember when I first got my sewing machine for Mother’s Day this year, I whipped up a few pillows.  Betsy immediately commissioned me to make some spring pillows for her front porch.  I’ve made her a couple sets of pillows so far and she has loved them!

Now that it is football season and I have been busy crafting my Gator stuff, Betsy has asked me to make her a few FSU things.  I’m telling you, it’s hard being a Gator in Seminole country!  But I don’t mind.  She knew she wanted an FSU rag wreath and some FSU pillows.  A couple trips to JoAnn’s later and here’s what I whipped up…..

IMG_6257

This wreath is so super cute!  I have made a few fabric rag wreaths for various holidays, but our other girlfriend in the neighborhood made an FSU one like this so Bets knew that’s what she wanted!  I used one of the 3-tier wire wreath forms from Hobby Lobby.  I only tied the fabric strips on the first and last ring.  Make sense?  It’s really full and really didn’t take too long to make.

Now for my favorite!  The pillows!  I am in love with how these turned out, despite the colors!  Winking smile

IMG_6267IMG_6268

I. Love. Them!  I followed this tutorial and they were so super easy!!

So that’s it!  I’m off to make some Fall pillows for my front porch!

Do you have a favorite football team?  Have you made any crafts to show your team spirit?  I’d love for you to share!!

Have a great day!

Monogrammed Pumpkin {“Pin”spiration}

My “Fall and Halloween” board on Pinterest is filled to the brim with so many gorgeous and inspiring ideas!  Although I would LOVE to duplicate them all, I don’t have the time, money, and quite frankly….the motivation!  I need quick and easy these days {with a grumpy and teething 10 month old and all}.
I have seen several cute pumpkin makeovers on Pinterest!  Take a look at these beauties:

I love ‘em all!  So I wanted to make my own!  I really love the simplicity and stylishness of the nailhead pumpkins!  And I love monograms!
So I made a monogrammed nailhead pumpkin!

IMG_6245

I got the pumpkin at Walmart for $4.  It’s fake and kinda foamy-ish {yeah, I make up my own words.  It’s my blog.  I can do that!}.  I also got the pack of nail heads there for 88 cents.  I already had the spray paint on hand.

The pumpkin started out orange {obviously}.  I don’t have a before picture.  Horrible blogger.  Sorry.

I taped off the stem and took it outside and spray painted it using Krylon’s Satin Nickel.  I then printed a large W {for our last name} off the computer.  I held it up on the pumpkin where I wanted it and started inserting the nail heads.

IMG_6244

My original idea was to put all the nail heads in, then just rip the paper off {thinking that the nail heads would stay in place}.  Well, that didn’t happen.  The nail heads popped out.  That was ok though.  I just put them right back in.  It was easy since the holes were already marked in the pumpkin.

IMG_6248

I love it!  Simple, quick, cute, elegant.  I love that it isn’t bright orange and doesn’t scream PUMPKIN & FALL {although there is nothing wrong with that and I have some plans for some orange pumpkins}!

This took me all of about 15 minutes!  Even better!

Have you found any Fall and/or Halloween inspiration on Pinterest?  Are you just “pinning” or are you going to actually tackle some of those projects?

Have a great Friday!

‘Tis The Season {I Love Fall}

The weather is starting to get cooler here in north Florida, believe it or not!  The mornings have been just to die for!  Low 70’s, beautiful skies, construction tractors across the street roaring at 7:00am, calm breeze!  It’s been awesome!
As soon as September 1st rolled around, I started thinking about Fall and how I wanted to decorate.  I’m really excited for Halloween this year because it’ll be Emily’s first!  It was supposed to be her first last year, but she decided she wanted to delay her debut by about a week and a half.  So she missed Halloween last year.
Anyway, back to Fall!
I wanted to do some simple things around the house to start making it feel more “Fall-ish”.  So I made some pumpkin specimen art {and even included some of my fav…..BURLAP!!}!
pumpkin specimen art copy
IMG_6212
Cute, right?
It was so simple!  I just popped the glass out of my $3 Target frame, used some spray adhesive to stick my burlap to the back of the frame, found some coordinating Fall papers in my stash, then used my Silhouette to cut out some pumpkin shapes, and hot glued them to the burlap.  And that was it!  Easy enough, right?
IMG_6213
And cheap too!
Frame – $3
Burlap – Already had on hand
Paper for pumpkins – Already had on hand
Total:  $3 smackaroos!!
I still haven’t decided exactly where I want to put it so it’s just hanging out on the counter in our office nook for now.  I’m going to pull out all of my Fall stuff this weekend and decorate so hopefully it’ll find a home then!
I am working on a few more Fall/Halloween projects and can’t wait to share with you guys!  I’ll be back this afternoon to share a little pumpkin ditty I whipped up yesterday!
What are you doing to get ready for Fall and Halloween?
Have a happy Friday!
P.S. I am installing a new comment system.  I will be messing with it off and on.  Please let me know if you have any issues leaving a comment.

Happy Labor Day

Hey guys!  Boy, I tell ya….I sure do love long weekends!  Scott actually had Friday off as well so we had a 4 day weekend!  Score!

Friday we took a day trip to Destin to go shopping at the outlets!  It was fun.  I may or may not have spent $175 at the Carter’s outlet.  Whoops.  The whole store was 50% off!!  How could I not stock Emily up for Fall!?!

Saturday we just kind of relaxed and got some work done around the house.  And of course we watched some football!  Emily was ready to watch her Gators win!

IMG_6218IMG_6228IMG_6229

IMG_6220

And we came out with a victory!  Woohoo!  Although Emily didn’t quite make it to the end of the game.

Today we caught up on more housework (oh you know, touching up baseboards and such) and played with little Miss Em.

It was such a great and relaxing weekend.  I wish my husband had 4 day weekends more often!  The weather was pretty crabby most of the weekend so we didn’t get to go out and enjoy the sun.  Thankfully we live in Florida and there will be much more warm weather and sunshine for us to enjoy!

What did you do for your Labor Day weekend?

OH!  And before I forget…..don’t forget to pop over and enter the UPrinting giveawayRemember – you HAVE to leave a separate comment for each item you complete (like….one comment if you like me on FB, one comment if you follow UPrinting on Twitter).  This is the only way to do it fairly using Random.org.  Thanks guys!
