DIY Baby Book

A couple of weeks ago, I finally sat down and decided to make my very own DIY baby memory book.  I blogged about it here.  Well, I ran out of scrapbook paper and didn't finish it, but I finally finished it last week!  I'm not usually very confident in my DIY projects, but I have to admit.....I LOVE THIS BOOK!  The album was $14 at Michael's (plus a 40% off coupon, of course) and I got the big paper pack from JoAnn's (so I could use it for other projects as well) for about $9.  I made the pages of the book in Microsoft Word so that was FREE!  I also love it because I could customize it however I wanted.  I didn't like a lot of the pages in the generic, store bought memory books.  So, taking my inspiration from John and Sherry over at Young House Love.....I made my own!  Here are some of the pages:

The book is an 8x8 album.  Like I mentioned above, I bought a big 8x8 pack of baby girl themed scrapbook paper from JoAnn's.  That served as my background.  Then I bought plain pink and plain green cardstock and cut it down to 7x7.  I then glued that on top of the 8x8 paper.  Lastly, the printed pages that I made in Microsoft Word were cut down to 6x6 and I glued that on top of the plain pink/green cardstock.  And voila, the book was complete!
I have made the pages of the book available for you to download!!  Click HERE to download the pages for your very own DIY baby book!  Once you download the file, you can customize the pages however you would like!

Enjoy!

  1. Your baby book is so sweet!! And frugal too - which is always fantastic. ;) I wish I'd done something like that for my kids - now they're teenagers and I'm not sure I can remember all those milestones. Yours will be really special!!

  6. thanks for fixing it! can you post the name of the font, though? is it "Girls are weird"? it looks totally different on my computer...probably cuz we don't have the font. an idea: it may work better as a pdf in keeping the font.

  7. I figured it out! For anyone having the same problem, you can search for the "girl is weird" font (http://www.searchfreefonts.com/free/girls-are-weird.htm), download it and put it in the C:/Windows/Fonts folder and it will show up correctly in Word.

  8. I am so excited that I found you! I am also inspired by the DIY baby book from younghouselove. I'm getting ready to have baby#2 and I want to put a book together. Yours looks awesome! I had some questions for you: How did you attach the paper to the album? Were there pages already in the album when you bought it?

    Thanks for an inspiring post!

Wow, that is an inspiration and a project that I often took up for my daughter and grandsons. Now I make babybooks for those of you who want something without the work. Have a look at my website, www.jackieoframes.com or Jackie O Frames, Etsy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. I read each and every one of them and work hard to respond to all of them that I can.
